As the original book publishing date fast approaches, I figured it is probably time for a book progress report. For those of you who are new to this site – at the beginning of March, I launched this website and posted this blog post. It should bring you up to speed…
The date I set for myself was a bit too ambitious, to say the least. Its OK, the project is still going strong and the book will be published, but it certainly will not happen next weekend. There are several reasons for that. The main one is that this is my first experience with self publishing (or publishing anything, for that matter) and everything that goes with it. It turns out there is a lot to take into consideration! It was a steep learning curve, But I’m happy to say I now have a much better idea of what is involved. Since I want to do things right, I am kind of happy I have taken my time to make better choices.
So, where do things stand right now?
I signed an agreement with Friesen Press this week. I am pretty excited about that because: 1) they are local and 2) the have a great reputation in the self publishing industry. Plus, I know someone who started working there recently. That helps too!
I am in the process of finding a photographer (I am pretty sure I have one) and I’m working hard on the practical sports nutrition information, recipes, etc. The book ambassadors will be announced next weekend and then they will get busy testing the recipes!
According to the publishing company and their timeline, I will be on track for an early spring publishing date.
I need your help
Because of the change in publishing date, I was thinking of ways I can get something out earlier than the spring. One option is to publish an ebook that will be a condensed version of the book, to give you a taste of what it is all about. Once you purchase this ebook, you will receive a discount on the full version of the book when it is published. Some of the recipes & information will be the same, some will be different.
The other option is to simply wait until the spring, when the book is published.
If you want to help me choose between these two options, please fill in the very short survey below.
By the way, if you sign up for updates before the end of December 2011 you will get a discount code for the book. Discount codes will be generated and emailed to you during the first week of January 2012.
Thank you for your support!
